An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to work as part of the Outpatient team. Do you have a particular interest in Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Haematology, Gynaecological or Orthopaedic specialities, then this could be the post for you.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to give high quality nursing care and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will consistently ensure that a patient's privacy, dignity and psychological well-being is maintained, and at all times, the care given is patient centred.
You need to have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, who are forward thinking, well organised and with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.
The successful candidate will also be required to deputies for the Senior Sister for Outpatients in her absence and also provide support across all the Outpatient areas in times of annual leave and sickness, including Weymouth Community Hospital, and South Walks House, therefore the ability to travel between sites is essential.
The working pattern is flexible to support the needs of the service, including weekend and maybe evenings in the future.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* Work autonomously undertaking holistic assessment examination in order to implement management plans for patients.
* Use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare to patients attending the Outpatient department and to assist Senior Nurses on the development of new and current Outpatient services and clinics
* To work closely with the Senior Nurses, Divisional Managers and the Multidisciplinary Team to provide high quality and cost effective patient focused services.
* Coordinate staff rostering within the department to ensure that the day to day services are managed and that resources are effectively and efficiently used to deliver a high quality service.
* Participate in the delivery of formal and informal teaching for the nursing staff and act as a resource for education and development within the service.

Education, Qualifications & Training
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
* Evidence of recent CPD.
* Recognised teaching qualification
Knowledge & Experience
* Recent experience in an Outpatients setting
* Understanding of professional and current issues in nursing.
* Recent experience of management/leadership of a team.
* Experience of implementing change.
Skills & Abilities
* Evidence of ability to practice as competent practitioner.
