About the role
UCL Laws has a longstanding tradition of academic excellence in health care law and ethics, and the translation of research expertise into public policy and public service. The stewards of health care law at UCL Laws are currently Professor Sir Jonathan Montgomery and Dr Isra Black. Health care law at UCL Laws is currently taught on the LLB as an optional module in the final year, in a ‘special tort seminar’ on medical negligence in year 2, and as part of our introduction to ‘law’s connections’ for first year students. The Faculty is keen to build capacity and resilience in the subject area.
Reflecting the broad strengths of the Faculty, we are keen for applications from a diverse range of scholars: those who take socio-legal, comparative, doctrinal, empirical, historical, and/or theoretical approaches; those who adopt interdisciplinary approaches; and/or those who approach health care law through economic analysis of law and intersecting legal subject areas.
We are looking to appoint as a fixed term Lecturer (Teaching) in Law an outstanding candidate with teaching expertise who will be able to contribute to the Faculty’s development and advancement of health care law and other related subjects.

About you
Successful candidates will hold at least a master’s degree in law and have strong expertise in health care law and related subjects, with demonstrable experience in teaching across the field and related subjects at Higher Education level. It also expected that the post-holders can evidence engagement with research in relevant fields to support research-led education.
Applicants should have evidence of commitment to Institutional Citizenship, including of effective personal contribution to the administration of a university department or other administrative unit and the impact of these contributions. They should also possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, a strong sense of teamwork, the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds, and a demonstrable commitment to UCL’s Equal Opportunity Policy.
