About the Role - Assistant Head of Department in Sports & Uniformed Protective Services
As Assistant Head of Department, you’ll support curriculum delivery and staff management for Sports and Uniformed Protective Services programmes. You’ll help lead a committed team, drive quality standards and student outcomes, and ensure programmes are innovative, inclusive and industry relevant.
Key Responsibilities - Assistant Head of Department in Sports & Uniformed Protective Services
1. Assist with the management and development of study programmes and adult courses
2. Oversee timetabling, staffing and curriculum planning with a student-centred focus
3. Lead course team meetings and support collaborative resource development
4. Monitor attendance, punctuality and behaviour
5. Champion outstanding student experience and progression
6. Build industry links and source work experience opportunities
7. Contribute to recruitment, admissions and promotional events
8. Lead on quality assurance, support teaching practice and assessment methods
9. Supervise team members and conduct appraisals
10. Manage resources, including rooms and equipment
11. Advance equality, inclusion and excellence in delivery
What We’re Looking For - Assistant Head of Department in Sports & Uniformed Protective Services
12. Level 5 or above teaching qualification (DET, DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE)
13. Management or assessor awards (IQA, Assessors Award) desirable
14. Strong education/training provider experience, preferably in further education
15. Proven team leadership or programme management experience
16. Up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and awarding body requirements
17. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills

18. Salary: £44,408 per annum (pro rata for part-time)
19. Location: Multi-campus, travel required
20. Hours: 37 hours/week, full year
21. Contract: Permanent
22. Annual Leave: 42 days, plus bank holidays
23. Enhanced DBS required
