Role Overview
At ICS, we support international brokers and insurance firms by connecting them with experienced professionals across the broking and insurance sectors. Due to an active client project, we are currently recruiting for a part-time Group Accountant to support a defined insurance portfolio run-off project.
This is a role that can be fulfilled as half-day or three full days per week, offered on an initial six-month contract, linked directly to project requirements. The role is ideal for an experienced insurance accountant or bookkeeper seeking flexible, remote, project-based work.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Group Accountant with insurance bookkeeping experience to oversee financial reporting, compliance, and accounting activities during the responsible run-off of an insurance portfolio.
You will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting, while acting as a liaison between operational finance, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Run-Off Financial Management
* Maintain and update cash flow forecasts to ensure solvency and liquidity compliance
* Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs
* Monitor capital adequacy in line with AFSL requirements
* Support external audits and going-concern assessments
Trust Account & Premium Administration
* Manage daily trust account receipts, refunds, and reconciliations
* Process and reconcile broker bordereaux
* Oversee premium collections and broker commission settlements
* Ensure compliance with ASIC and trust account regulations
* Liaise with auditors on trust account matters
Operational Accounting
* Process supplier payments and skeleton payroll
* Maintain general ledger integrity (Xero)
* Perform monthly bank reconciliations
* Manage intercompany recharges
* Prepare and submit quarterly BAS returns
Stakeholder Engagement
* Liaise with brokers, auditors, and external service providers
* Respond to finance-related queries related to payments and settlements
* Support internal stakeholders with run-off reporting and financial analysis
Minimum Requirements
* Minimum 3+ years' experience specifically within short term insurance or financial services accounting
* Experience supporting insurance portfolios, trust accounts, or run-off environments
* Proficient in accounting systems and tools (e.g. Xero, Excel)
* Willingness to time-shift to support an Australian brokerage
* Fully set up for remote work with backup power and internet
* Strong English proficiency, professional presence, and confidence
