What does the role involve?
Supporting and mentoring young people to achieve positive outcomes and finding and giving them opportunities to develop themselves.
Supporting learners with their course work qualifications.
Supporting young people to achieve their goals, support them in education.
Building up a trusting relationship and providing emotional support to young people who may have complex needs and present challenging behaviour.
Supporting the young people to develop healthy lifestyles, positive relationships, self-esteem, and confidence.
Following policies, risk assessments, and keep up to date with daily paperwork.

Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting is essential.
training will be provided prior to starting.
Must be able to pass a DBS check.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build positive, trusted relationships with students who display challenging or disruptive behaviour.
* interventions focused on emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour.
* Support teachers in the classroom, helping to de-escalate situations and promote engagement
* Act as a role model, mentor, and advocate for students, supporting their personal, social, and academic progress.
* Monitor and record behavioural incidents and contribute to EHCP reviews and pastoral plans.
* Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide a consistent and coordinated support network.
* Promote a calm, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience: At least 1 year of experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour, ideally in an AP, PRU, or SEMH setting.
* Training: Knowledge of behaviour de-escalation techniques
* Safeguarding: Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
* Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and positive under pressure.
* DBS must be able to pass a DBS check.
Responsibilities
* Engage with young people to build trusting relationships and provide emotional support.
* Plan and deliver educational and recreational activities tailored to the needs of the youth.
* Mentor individuals or groups, helping them set goals and achieve personal development milestones.
* Work collaboratively with parents, schools, and community organisations to ensure holistic support for each young person.
* Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for reporting purposes.
* Address behavioural issues with appropriate strategies while promoting positive behaviour.
* Facilitate workshops or sessions on relevant topics such as life skills, conflict resolution, or self-esteem building.
Experience
* Proven experience working with children or adolescents in a mentoring or educational capacity is essential.
* Familiarity with youth work principles and practices is advantageous.
