Applefields School are seeking to recruit a Teaching Assistant Level 2 based at the Linkage Minster provision (currently based at Askham Bryan College but due to relocate soon to Clifton).
The post is 5 days a week from 8.45am to 3.30pm on a term time only basis.
The post is to provide general classroom support to students in the post 19 provision, students attending the provision have severe learning needs and may be on the Autistic spectrum, present with challenging behaviours, and have complex medical and/or physical needs; recognising young people as individuals as described in the SEND Code of Practice 2014.
The successful candidate will work as a member of the Minster team supporting our students' access to the curriculum and the development of their communication, personal, and social independence skills both within the classroom and out in the community. We welcome applications from individuals from a variety of backgrounds, we recognise that many people will have transferable skills from other sectors that may well be appropriate to our provision.

* Be a strong advocate of inclusion.
* Be confident to accept responsibility and work independently, able to demonstrate initiative and have a flexible attitude to the challenging demands of working with young people with additional and complex needs.
* Be able to work collaboratively.
* Be a reflective practitioner who aligns their values with the needs of the provision.
* Be committed to continued professional development via self-directed training and leadership-led feedback.

Applefields School is a popular and highly regarded special school for secondary age students years) with moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties and a significant number of students with additional needs on the autistic spectrum. We support students from York and the surrounding areas of North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. At the beginning of the current school year (2024/25) there are 220 pupils on roll, it is projected that numbers will rise in September 2025.
