Senior Yardperson - Dorchester, Dorset - £27,000 – £40,000
The Job:
This is a newly created, permanent position at the centre of the yard. Working closely with the Farm Manager, you’ll take responsibility for keeping the yard and workshop running like a well-oiled machine—organised, efficient, and ready for whatever the season throws at it.
It’s a hands-on role for someone who’s as comfortable on the tools as they are in a tractor seat, especially when harvest pressure kicks in.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day to day running and organisation of a busy farm yard
- Grain store management, including weighbridge operations
- Grain drying and monitoring during harvest
- Workshop duties, maintenance and repair of farm machinery
- Tractor driving and general support during peak periods
- Liaising with farm staff and contractors
- Maintaining high standards across yard and equipment
The Company:
A well established, privately owned 1,000 acre arable estate near Dorchester. A practical, well run farming business with a mixed operation and a strong team ethos - everyone mucks in and standards are kept high.
The Candidate:
- Experience working in a similar yard based agricultural role
- Strong practical and mechanical ability
- Confident taking ownership and working within a small team
- Competent machinery operator (tractors essential)
- Able to prioritise and stay ahead of workload
- Good communicator with a steady, reliable approach

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
