In this role, you’ll carry out laboratory experiments, monitor biological processes, and support wider site operations. Beyond lab-based biology, you’ll gain experience with process infrastructure, equipment, and general site activities, making this a truly multidisciplinary role. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys both science and practical work and is ready to take ownership of tasks following training. Key Responsibilities: Conduct laboratory experiments and process trials according to defined protocols. Use techniques such as microscopy, wet cell weight, pH, and EC analysis to monitor and manage biological processes. Handle and process diverse biological feedstocks with care and consistency. Record, analyse, and present experimental data clearly and accurately. Maintain accurate lab notebooks and contribute to process development documentation. Work safely in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laboratory best practices. Set up and maintain experimental infrastructure, including basic assembly and maintenance using hand tools. Support wider site operations, including tasks beyond the lab that contribute to pilot-scale and operational activities. Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workplace in collaboration with the team. What We’re Looking For Essential: Proactive, reliable, and eager to take ownership of tasks. GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above). Strong time management and ability to work to deadlines. Clear written and spoken English. Hands-on, practical approach with attention to detail. UK driving licence Desirable: Some prior experience (school, personal, or work-based) in lab, workshop, or technical settings. Strong interest in biology, applied science, or process development. Comfortable using hand tools or basic measuring equipment. Familiarity with accurate record-keeping or data handling. Why Join Us?
