GSL Education are delighted to offer a full-time opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support learning across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a vibrant and inclusive secondary school based in Middlesbrough, starting in September 2025.
About the Role / Role Overview
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of teaching staff to provide tailored academic and behavioural support to students. This position is ideal for graduates considering a future in teaching, psychology, youth work, or educational support services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and accessible lessons across a variety of subjects.
* Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress.
* Assist with classroom preparation, organisation of resources, and behaviour management.
* Provide pastoral support and encourage a positive school ethos.
* Offer targeted intervention to pupils who require additional help.
* Help monitor pupil progress and contribute to planning and assessment discussions.
Job Requirements:
* A university degree in any discipline, with a strong academic background.
* A genuine interest in working within the education sector, particularly with Secondary students.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff and parents.
* The ability to inspire and motivate young adults while demonstrating patience and empathy.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
