Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Strathpeffer Medical Practice
Part Time 20 hours per week
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive team at Strathpeffer Medical Practice.
Strathpeffer Medical Practice is a semi-rural Practice based in the scenic Scottish Highlands. Our main surgery is situated in Strathpeffer, with a smaller branch surgery in the nearby town of Dingwall. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care whilst recognising the importance of achieving a good work-life balance. We are looking for a like-minded clinician to join us in delivering safe, compassionate and effective care for our local community.
Our Team
You will be joining a collaborative team comprising of:
1. 3 GP Partners
2. 1 Salaried GP
3. 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner
4. 2 Practice Nurses
5. 1 Healthcare Assistant
6. Experienced administrative staff
7. Practice Manager
We work closely with a range of community colleagues including Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Community Psychiatric Nursing, Guided Self-Help, Substance Misuse services, Midwifery and Health Visitors, alongside Community Nursing and Palliative Care Teams.
The Role
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will work as part of our multidisciplinary team, assessing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. You will have regular access to GP support and will work closely with colleagues across the practice, particularly collaborating with our Practice Nurses to support chronic disease pathways, treatment room activity and general nursing services.
The role involves:
8. Face-to-face clinics
9. Home visits
10. Providing leadership within the nursing team
You will contribute to the development of our nursing services and play an active role in helping the practice to deliver high quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical
11. Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with new or unclear symptoms, as well as diagnosed conditions.
12. Undertake clinical examinations and arrange appropriate investigations
13. Interpret results and initiate appropriate treatment plans
14. Prescribe safely as an independent prescriber
15. Refer to primary, secondary and community services as required
16. Support health promotion, screening and preventative care
17. Maintain accurate, timely and compliant clinical records
Team Leadership
18. Support, guide and help lead the nursing team
19. Provide clinical support, mentorship and leadership to the Practice Nurses and HCA
20. Contribute to appraisals, training needs assessment and professional development
21. Assist with practice audits, Enhanced Service work and clinical governance
22. Uphold high standards of infection control and contribute to policy development
23. Support student placements where appropriate
Qualifications & Experience
24. Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
25. MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent Level 7 qualification
26. Independent Prescribing Qualification (V300)
27. Experience in advanced clinical assessment
28. Strong communication, clinical judgement and team-working skills
29. Commitment to ongoing CPD and maintaining clinical competencies
