* We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to join our team in Chelmsford, Essex.
Space science is at the core of understanding the Universe's origins and future. The sensor device technology includes Charge Coupled Devices (CCDs), CMOS image detectors (visible and infra-red) and their associated Read Out ICs (ROICs). From the earliest signs of the Big Bang to the effects of solar activity on the Earth, the detailed scientific information and images obtained with our sensors are helping us understand more about our surroundings.
The imaging sensors developed and tested at our site have been used on humanity's most important space imaging missions. These include the Hubble Telescope, Kepler, Gaia, Mars Rovers, New Horizons, and Rosetta to name but a few.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create innovative electronic designs that add value to new and existing test systems.
* Capture detailed system architecture by way of interface diagrams and charts.
* Prepare and present all necessary documentation relevant to the electrical design for gate reviews.
* Take a strong lead with verification and testing of electronics.
* Mentor and train engineers within the team.
Requirements:
* Demonstrate knowledge of PCB design approaches required when dealing with Hi-Speed circuitry.
* Show ability to convey technical data and complex electrical designs in an easy-to-understand format.
* Hold a strong understanding of electronics and electrical interfaces.
* Possess PCB CAD skills with an advantage to those who have Cadence or Altium experience.
* Have experience with space electronics considered advantageous.
