Logistics Specialist
The Logistics Specialist will support the logistics department by carrying out the logistical movements of materials and goods entering the supply chain (manufacturing) and the loading of completed products (projects). The role also involves preparing customs documents for import and export and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Internal title: Logistics Professional – Logistics.
Ideal candidates have experience in manufacturing and project-driven logistics.
Responsibilities
* Assisting development of Project Logistics Plan (shipment lookahead, risks, strategy).
* Coordinating and leading regular shipment rhythms.
* Optimizing planning to reduce shipment volume, increase consolidation and reduce freight spend.
* Coordinating with interfacing roles in Manufacturing, Sourcing, Projects & Materials.
* Supporting monthly cost feedback on logistics spend (Inbound & Outbound).
* Customer point of contact on all Project Logistics related matters.
* Verifying or completing import and export documentation, records, and registers in accordance with local customs compliance requirements.
* Compliantly moving goods while adhering to all Baker Hughes policies, International Trade compliance, HMRC and customs regulations.
* Supporting the Logistics lead in loadouts, arranging kick‑off meetings, aligning all parties, controlling the flow of information, and enabling collaboration to successfully load out projects on time.
* Ensuring carrier compliance.
* Participating in all logistics meetings.
* Requesting transport quotes.
* Sourcing the most cost‑effective and efficient logistics solution for transportation requests.
* Completing end‑to‑end logistics.
* Administering audits of completed shipments.
Qualifications
* Good understanding of Incoterms and strong knowledge of international logistics.
* Preferred understanding of duties and tariffs.
* Experience in supply chain or procurement is an advantage.
* Good problem‑solving skills, sound judgment, initiative and creativity.
* Self‑starter, creative and clear thinker.
* Advanced Microsoft computer skills (Excel spreadsheets, etc.).
* Training will be provided with logistics systems.
* Permanent work permit in the UK.
