Basic Function:

Responsible for the operation of the Packing Hall in accordance with company procedures and regulations, while maintaining excellent food Safety, Health & Safety Practices.

Hours of Work:

Sunday to Friday working a 40 hour week with a 1 x 30 minute paid break daily,

3 shift pattern:-

Week 1 Shift: 22:00 to 06:00 / Week 2 Shift: 14.00 to 22.00 / Week 3 Shift: 06.00 to 14.00

Key Duties:

· Manage and lead all teams to follow health and safety policy and procedures, leading by example ensuring safety culture in all that the team carries out.

· Manage product quality, GMP standards throughout the production process.

· Strategically manage Packing areas in compliance with company's policies and vision.

· Ensure that all areas conform to GMP standards, audit ready always.

· Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.

· Review and reduce waste within all areas of Packing.

· Adhere to all packaging, material handling and labelling legislation requirements.

· Update DWOR, SIC boards in line with terms of reference.

· Coach and mentor team to build on capabilities.

· Ensure labeling and packaging artworks are verified against customer specification.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

* Managing the Pack team to ensure shifts are covered and that Pack function and operates efficiently.
* Plan work schedules for Pack Operatives, organize training, Health and Safety, Food Safety.
* Coordinate training with all teams to ensure compliant to Food safety and Health and safety.

· Controlling of all packaging materials and finished products.

· Ensuring that all packaging is stored correctly, tidily and safely to ensure product safety, quality and legality always.

* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
* Communicate effectively with Co-Workers, Managers and other departments to ensure the effective running of the Prep operation.

· Organising, scheduling the maintenance, repair and replacement of Packing equipment.

· Participate in monthly stock take, ensuring all teams follow FIFO rule.

General Responsibilities:

· Produce safe, quality products as required to meet the production plan.

· Ensure that all completed Production Packing and offline Packing paperwork and documentation is correctly, clearly and accurately completed by staff.

· Specifications and packing methods are to be followed and to be audited on a regular basis.

· Ensure that all materials are in date and legible.

· Remove any defective products or materials, ensure they are clearly labelled and reported to the department manager and Technical.

· Ensure that you and your staff only operate equipment that you or they have been trained to operate with SOP sign off training data.

Additional Responsibilities:

* In common with all other personnel within United Pet Food, the Job Holder is required to adhere to the Company's policies on Safety, Hygiene and good housekeeping. Specifically:

· To take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and that of other persons who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions;

· To co-operate regarding any duty or requirement imposed on the company, or on any individual by or under any of the relevant statutory provisions, so far as is necessary, to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with;

· To report to his/her immediate manager any hazard which may be discovered at, or in the vicinity of, the place of work.

· To safeguard the quality, legality and safety of the product at all times.

Health and Safety Duties

* Maintaining H&S and hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations.

Other Duties

* Carrying out other associated duties.

General:

All employees are engaged on the principle that due to pressure of work, or other fluctuating circumstances, they may be asked to carry out any reasonable task.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
