Mobile Service Engineer
We are recruiting for a mobile service engineer for a prestigious client specialising in heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and potable water systems.
Covering the Southeast of England, £30,000 – £36,000 per annum. Starting salary will be regularly reviewed.
Location & Travel
You will mainly work in the Southeast of the UK, travelling to sites within this area. The role requires occasional travel to Head Office in the Midlands and may involve work outside this area. Overnight stays at client sites are expected; accommodation and travel related subsistence will be provided.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Maintain and carry out remedial works on water treatment equipment, following accepted engineering practice and established procedures.
* Plan and prepare work based on equipment specifications and system design drawings for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and potable water systems.
* Ensure installations are of acceptable quality and meet design specifications.
* Perform pre‑commissioning checks and testing of equipment and log accurate data.
* Sample system water, check parameters, operating temperatures and pressures, equipment integrity, and record measurements.
* Set up and program ancillary equipment and PLCs for effective operation.
* Measure and calculate component timings, record data and interpret readings. Provide summary reports to clients.
* Prepare estimations of materials, equipment parts and labour; review access arrangements for remedial works.
* Conduct condition surveys for turnkey projects at client sites.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose faults; undertake like‑for‑like replacements and repairs in situ to reinstate operation.
* Liaise with customers to inform on issues, necessary repairs and resolved problems.
* Manage daily stock, consumables and parts, complete site work forms and file all records to meet submission and reporting deadlines.
* Establish and maintain effective communication and good working relationships with all members of the service team.
Required Attributes
* Education to A‑level or equivalent and proven experience working with building services systems.
* Valid UK driving licence and a full clean driving record. Candidates must be 25 or over.
* Willingness to travel, including overnight stays, with proven ability to prepare routes and arrive punctually.
* Good professional appearance and conduct at all times.
* Practical, problem‑solving mindset and aptitude for troubleshooting.
* Ability to work responsibly on your own and as part of a team.
* Physical fitness to move tools, ladders, materials and parts between vehicle, site and installed locations.
* High level of understanding of Health & Safety at Work and application of safe working practice, with formal training where possible.
* Disclosure and disbarring service clearance required for client sites.
* Two references, one from a previous employer.
* RoSPA driver profiler assessment will be required.
