We have a new vacant Associate Practitioner post available for candidate with relevant experience in Cellular Pathology to work on a permanent basis within our Histopathology department at Royal Bolton Hospital.
The department has full HCPC training status for pre and post registration IBMS portfolios and UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189
Please note this post is not intended for trainee BMS candidates looking to complete the registration portfolio .
We will consider applications for a development role @AFC Band 3 with a minimum requirement of the IBMS Certificate of Achievement Part 1, with a planned progression into B4 upon completion of Training.
Main duties of the job
This role will involve the routine processing of tissue samples, non-gynae specimens and andrology samples. The successful candidates will be expected to maintain all protocols within the department, in line with ISO 15189 standards. You will work as part of a team of highly dedicated scientific staff to ensure the quality of all tests performed using internal and external quality schemes. You will perform specialist automated and manual tests throughout the department and be involved in auditing processes, reagent control, and maintenance of equipment. You will rotate through all sections of the department and microtomy, embedding, special stains, assisting dissection/specimen reception and some non gynae preparation techniques.

Experience in Histology is essential.

1. Successful completion of the IBMS Certificate of Achievement parts 1 & 2 (a candidate will be considered for a Band 3 trainee AP post if they have completed IBMS CoA part 1) or a Biomedical Science related degree
