Your new companyHMP Cardiff is a Category B/C men's prison located in the centre of Cardiff, Wales. It has a capacity of around 800 inmates and plays a key role in the Welsh justice system. Your new roleHMP Cardiff has an exciting opportunity to join the facilities team as a Mechanical supervisor. As part of the works department, you will be required to lead and supervise a team of mechanical maintenance staff, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and heating across a facility or estate.Duties include but are not limited to:
* Oversee the daily operations of the mechanical maintenance team and contractors.
* Ensure timely completion of planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
* Monitor mechanical systems for performance, safety, and energy efficiency.
* Support minor works and refurbishment projects with technical input.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and compliance.
* Promote health and safety best practices and ensure legal compliance.
* Liaise with other departments to minimise disruption during maintenance.
Full-time, Monday to Friday.What you'll need to succeed
* NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering/ Plumbing.
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical plant systems.
* Proven supervisory experience in a complex environment.
* Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation.
* Ability to read technical drawings and use CAFM systems.
