About Fisher Smith
Fisher Smith is a UK leader in machine vision and automation solutions, established in 2004. We design, build, and support cutting-edge systems for customers across aerospace, transport, healthcare, agriculture, and more.
Our new, larger office in Corby includes a dedicated development and testing lab, giving engineers hands-on access to the latest technology. We’re passionate about innovation, continuous improvement, and working at the forefront of AI and deep learning within industrial automation.
The Role
As a Graduate or Junior Applications Engineer, you’ll join a friendly and highly experienced team delivering real-world automation projects. You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle—from understanding customer requirements through to development, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support.
Your time will be split between the office, lab, and customer sites across the UK, with occasional overseas travel. You’ll gain first-hand insight into how products are designed, manufactured, and inspected, working with multinational customers on bespoke solutions where no two projects are the same.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants hands-on engineering experience, strong technical development, and exposure to modern manufacturing and AI-driven technology.

* Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
* Willingness to travel and work in varied environments (factory, lab, office)
