Job Summary
We are currently looking for a Sales Engineer (Utility BESS) to join our Utility Storage Team in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Act as the lead technical interface for utility-scale customers, EPCs, and developers across sales and contracting phases, translating project requirements into optimized, bankable BESS solutions
* Define and validate BESS architectures by assessing full project integration context (electrical, mechanical, grid compliance, and permitting), ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with customer needs
* Lead the technical scope of commercial offers, including development of supporting documentation, and ensure consistency between system design, performance expectations, and contractual commitments
* Own technical risk identification, allocation, and mitigation during bid and contract negotiations, with particular focus on performance guarantees, interfaces, assumptions, and liabilities
* Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and commercial teams, as well as external stakeholders (e.g. EPCs, consultants, TSOs/DSOs), to resolve constraints and deliver competitive, robust solutions
* Act as a trusted advisor to customers by clearly articulating system capabilities, limitations, and value drivers, while capturing market feedback to inform product strategy and identify new opportunities
Requirements
* Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) with 3–5+ years’ experience in utility-scale energy storage, power systems or other renewable energy technologies
* Proven ability to analyze, design, and troubleshoot complex engineering challenges in real-world projects
* Strong technical knowledge of battery systems, power conversion, and grid integration
* Experience supporting technical scope in contracts, including understanding performance guarantees, assumptions, and risk allocation
* Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders
* Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
