Operations and Maintenance Assistant

About the role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager the main responsibilities of the role will be to provide Operational & General Maintenance Support for all Race day and Non Race day events that take place at the Racecourse and to take responsibility for the Management of services and processes that support the core business.
At an exciting time to join the team at Worcester Racecourse, the post holder will provide general building maintenance to ensure that they are all kept safe, secure and in good condition, both indoors and outdoors whilst ensuring that best business practice is used to improve efficiency and reduce Operating Costs whilst contributing to an increasingly profitable Events and Race day business.
You will be involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day Facilities, particularly in relation to site/buildings maintenance and health and safety issues. Undertaking local maintenance and facilities tasks as agreed with the site GM and Operations Manager.
A pivotal role in site security and maintenance, supporting the appointed safety officer in terms of venue preparations for Race days and Events and leading the execution and completion of site tasks as identified in facilities management and health and safety audits.
1. Responsible for preparing the site for race days, including entrance, accessibility, and maintenance of outdoor enclosures.
2. Responsible for conducting general maintenance tasks and minor repairs.
3. Check that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies, monitoring all contractors to ensure they work in accordance with the company’s code of practice for contractors.
4. Work with wider team to arrange annual maintenance works carried out as directed to ensure we can receive our annual safety certificate.
5. Accurately complete, record and store information relating to housekeeping inspections and H&S requirements, such as fire alarm and emergency lighting tests; creating a task list based on recommendations.
6. You will ensure the site is safe and secure at all times.
7. To ensure all utilities are regularly monitored across the site and a continuous improvement plan be implemented.

Qualifications:
• Drivers licence
• Computer Literate
• Trade’s qualifications / Experience preferred
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role, with understanding of Health and Safety management
• High level of interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail
• Logical approach to tasks
• Excellent approach towards time management
• Works well under pressure and work with minimal supervision
• Customer service focused (internal and external)
• Organised, systematic and process driven
• Racecourse, Sport, Leisure or hotel background would be an advantage
