About the Post
We are looking to appoint a Lead Mentor to join our Bournemouth Bay Teacher Training Partnership (BBTTP) team.
BBTTP is Twynham Learning's School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) arm, for trainee secondary teachers (in all major secondary curriculum subjects). We are committed to the provision of high-quality teacher training across our partnership. Schools in our partnership are a range of different types of schools from across the Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset and New Forest region. The Lead Schools are Twynham School, Poole High School, Ringwood School and The Arnewood School. Our aim is to create opportunities that advance understanding of education and learning, preparing graduates wishing to enter the teaching profession. We pride ourselves on the modelling of good practice in our delivery. We believe in reflective learning for all our trainees, encouraging individuals to develop the skills necessary to become successful, committed, creative, enthusiastic and energetic teachers.
Our Lead Mentors play an important part in our initial teacher training offering as experts in their field. They will therefore be involved in supporting mentors to develop their skills set, as well as undertaking moderating visits to make sure that all our trainees receive sufficient mentoring and support on placement and that their placement curriculum aligns with the Bournemouth Bay curriculum.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:
* Spend the equivalent of one day per week (during term time only) with mentors to moderate their work with trainees
* Provide support to mentors as required
* Work mainly with one of our training hubs (Christchurch/Poole) - training and supporting mentors
* Travel independently to our partnership schools (mostly in the BCP area, with some in wider Dorset and Hampshire)
* Take responsibility for leading our summer mentor training conference
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with schools' Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.
