Overview
We are currently recruiting for an Audit Senior to join our clients Audit & Assurance team in Edinburgh. This is a key role offering the opportunity to lead audit engagements, manage junior staff and work closely with clients across a diverse portfolio.
The Role
As an Audit Senior, you will take responsibility for leading audit assignments from planning through to completion. You will supervise and support junior team members, ensuring high-quality delivery while maintaining strong client relationships and compliance with UK accounting and auditing standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion and sign-off
* Review financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant standards
* Assess internal controls and identify areas of risk
* Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships
* Set and monitor audit budgets, managing job progress and addressing variances
* Plan and coordinate team workflow across audit assignments
* Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members
* Lead audit planning, progress, and completion meetings
Technical Responsibilities
* Apply knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and auditing standards (including ISA requirements)
* Interpret and assess group audits and component auditor requirements
* Evaluate risk independently and design appropriate audit testing
* Deliver high-quality audits, including first-year engagements
* Continuously identify improvements to audit quality and efficiency
About You
* ACA / ACCA / CA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
* Proven experience within an accountancy practice audit role
* Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards
* Experience leading audits and supervising junior staff
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments
* Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
