Job Title: Security Access Controller

Compensation: £24,500 - £28,000 depending on experience.
The Role
At Babcock, you will work as a Security Access Controller at our Plymouth, Devon site, safeguarding one of the UK’s most secure sites. You will manage access to the dockyard, ensuring that only authorised personnel and visitors are granted entry, protecting critical infrastructure and operations. This role offers a career in security and administration within a dynamic, high‑security environment.
Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
* Manage access to secure areas, ensuring all entry processes meet strict security protocols
* Operate access control systems, issuing and renewing passes and ID cards
* Conduct security checks and maintain accurate visitor and personnel records
* Provide professional front‑of‑house customer service to visitors and colleagues
* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate site access
This is a full‑time role working 35 hours per week, based at Devonport.
Essential Experience
* Experience in administration and/or customer service within a fast‑paced environment
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
* High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
* Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
Qualifications
* GCSE in English and Maths (Grade A–C or equivalent)
* Completed or willingness to work towards an NVQ Level 2 in Administration
Security Clearance Requirements
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who can achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
