Your future role

As an Aerodynamics Engineer, you will participate in project/offer development through the application of engineering instructions, guidelines, and established internal processes of the Aerodynamics domain.

We’ll look to you for:

Perform standard Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis within the frame of projects using standard tools (STAR-CCM+, CFZ etc)
Use advanced CFD simulations requiring multi-physics approaches: aero-thermal, fluid-structure interaction, aero-acoustics, etc
Predict aerodynamic performance (Resistance to Motion, Head Pressure Pulse, Pressure Waves, Crosswinds, Aerodynamic Loads etc) using standard CFD methodologies defined by the global Aerodynamics Core Competency Network (CCN)
Predict aero-thermal and internal aerodynamic performance (cooling, heating, ventilation, duct pressure drops, climate control in the driver's cabin and passenger compartment);
Contribute to experimental and test activities on a mock-up (wind tunnel) or on the train.
Prepare aerodynamic project-specific requirements
Liaise with Aerodynamics engineers across sites to gather relevant Return on Experience (REX) from previous projects
Undertake R&D activities defined in the Alstom Aerodynamics CCN roadmap

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree BEng/MEng, or equivalent experience
Experience in R&D, Design in Aeronautical, Automotive or Railways engineering department is beneficial
Good knowledge of at least one leading CFD package is essential (STAR-CCM+, CFX, FLUENT, PowerFLOW etc)
Good knowledge of general fluid mechanics, thermal management, and fluid-structure interaction
Good communication skills, proactivity, teamwork, strategic vision
English conversational/writing/reading advanced level mandatory.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career.

You’ll also:

Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.
Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.
Contribute to innovative projects.
Utilise our dynamic, inclusive, and safety-focused working environment.
Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.
Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)
Up to 52 weeks full maternity and adoption pay.
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the opportunity to buy or sell holiday.
A wide range of flexible benefits that you can tailor to suit your lifestyle.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
