Prescription Coordinator - Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
The Prescription Co-ordinator will play a key role in overseeing the end-to-end process of prescription management, working closely with the Office Managers to ensure all systems and procedures are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner. A focus on continuous improvement will be central to the role, supporting the practice in maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
The post holder will also provide support to the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to the achievement of the practices strategic goals.
This role requires a proactive, well-organised individual who can prioritise their own workload effectively while working collaboratively as part of a team in a busy, dynamic environment.
Main duties of the job
The following outline the key duties of the Prescription Co-ordinator.
* Provide training and ongoing support
* Maintain overall responsibility for the secure storage, handling, and processing of FP10 prescriptions, ensuring regular audits are completed.
* Liaise with Office Managers regarding the allocation of staff for prescription-related duties
* Generate and analyse reports
* Monitor and review prescription processing targets
* Assist Office Managers in overseeing prescription-related tasks, including monitoring electronic task lists, managing emails, and handling general prescription queries.
* Address prescription concerns and issues promptly to prevent escalation and minimise the risk of formal complaints.
* Provide additional support to admin teams and Office Managers by answering telephone queries especially during busy periods.
* Support the continuous review and improvement of the Prescription Protocol by providing feedback and reporting any issues or incidents related to prescription processing
* Escalate complex or unresolved issues to the Line Manager or Practice Managers as appropriate.
* Build strong working relationships with community pharmacies to ensure smooth coordination in the supply of prescribed items
* Work collaboratively with clinicians to resolve complex prescription and medication queries, ensuring patient-centred care is prioritised.
