As an HSEQ Apprentice, you’ll be supporting the HSEQ team on our United Utilities contracts of work. You will learn how to promote compliance across the business, supporting the team to identify and raise issues. You will help communicate issues to employees and subcontractors and support effective document control and system compliance.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a level 3 safety, health and environment technician apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
* Help maintain safety and compliance standards, raising any issues promptly with support from the wider HSEQ team
* Assist with verification inspections and help follow up on the close out of findings and non conformances
* Support accident and incident investigations, learning how to promote high quality reporting and effective closure
* Take part in unsafe acts/conditions and positive intervention reporting, encouraging safe working practices
* Help prepare weekly and monthly reports on achievements and issues identified
* Support the communication and close out of corrective actions raised by the Compliance Department and external auditors
* Assist with compiling accident and incident statistics for the contracts you support and help prepare for client meetings
* Work alongside operational teams to build positive working relationships and support improvements to processes and systems
* Learn how to promote safe and correct behaviours both on site and in the office
* Support training and competency requirements, helping to ensure high standards of training compliance
* Assist the Quality Assurance and Environmental Lead with accreditations and provide support with standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
* Develop your knowledge of the business and continue learning about the products and services we provide
Experience and Qualifications
* A keen interest in health and safety and a willingness to learn.
* A minimum of Level 2 qualifications (GCSE or equivalent) that meet entry requirements for the apprenticeship.
* Good communication and organisational skills, or the enthusiasm to develop them over time.
* Proficient IT skills or the willingness to learn (Excel and Word essential).
* A full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one.
