Main purpose of job


Gore Street Capital is a fund manager for multiple energy storage funds, including Gore Street Energy Storage Fund (the first battery energy storage system (“BESS”) fund listed on the London Stock Exchange) which now owns 30 operational BESS projects spread across five grids, totalling over 750MW capacity. There is an exciting pipeline beyond this, with more projects planned particularly across continental Europe and Japan.


You will support the Asset Management Team in managing these systems and the role will involve management of interfaces between Gore Street and key contractors that design, build, operate and monetise the systems. You will be joining a team of asset managers with decades of experience for BESS projects, supporting them with key engineering challenges posed by the onboarding and continued successful operations of these projects. This will involve a mix of responsibilities, including core asset management activities alongside technical deep dive projects, due diligence processes, in-house engineering inputs to technology sourcing and engagement with third party experts to close-out critical technical challenges facing the portfolio.


As a member of the Asset Management team within Gore Street’s technical team, you are going to be involved with day-to-day operations and much of this will involve reacting to issues that could develop at any time. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with having accountability for their workload, have excellent organisational skills and find genuine enthusiasm for a fast-paced and highly dynamic position. The candidate will have to manage day-to-day activities alongside a varying, technical workload. An eye for detail is essential, alongside a proactive nature seeking to drive continuous improvement.


Responsibilities, duties and tasks


The primary responsibilities, duties and tasks of the role are as follows:


* Data collection and analysis of battery performance including; (i) cycling; (ii) efficiency; and (iii) warranty management.
* In-depth data analysis to improve asset performance.
* Development of in-house analytical approaches to drive performance.
* Providing electrical engineering expertise to the portfolio.
* Supporting the implementation of insurance policies at a portfolio level.
* Identifying and rectifying any missing project documentation.
* Reporting asset performance on a monthly basis.
* Supporting the continuous improvement of emergency response planning and best practice.
* Working across different jurisdictions including GB, Ireland, North America and Western Europe.


General duties


Day-to-day can vary greatly in this operational role, based on the needs of Gore Street’s projects at the time. Asset Managers may require support for interfacing with contractors to get access to sites, plan maintenance activities, procure spare parts etc. You will also have opportunities to engage directly with the commercial team to support the assets’ monetisation strategies, including working on projects such as data analytics and long duration energy storage workstreams and augmentation.


Occasional support for high-severity unplanned events outside of working hours may be required, as well as occasional travel to assets around Europe and North America.


Person Specification


Qualifications/Training


It is essential that the post holder has:


* Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
* Electrical engineering expertise either in battery energy storage systems (“BESS”) or power systems in general.


It is desirable that the post holder has:


* Any formal training in data science, energy systems or economics.


Experience/Knowledge


It is essential that the post holder has:


* 1 or more years’ experience in asset management, engineering or technical consultancy.
* Engineering experience in either BESS or power systems generally.


Skills And Abilities


It is essential that the post holder has:


* Excellent analytical skills with high levels of attention to detail.
* Proactive approach to managing matters and the ability to build momentum whilst bringing projects to a close.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage a range of different stakeholders.
