The Legal & Compliance Executive is responsible for the governance, maintenance, and communication of UK Card Terms & Conditions (T&Cs). The role ensures regulatory compliance, accuracy, and operational alignment of legal documentation. The individual will manage end-to-end T&C updates, support impacted projects, and oversee cardmember communications and legal document management, maintaining strong control and governance standards throughout. Responsibilities Terms and Conditions Governance Own and maintain UK Card Terms & Conditions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance Partner with GCO and Compliance teams to interpret regulatory changes and assess their impact on existing T&Cs Collaborate with Product Managers, Technology, and Business Enablement teams to understand product feature or functionality changes that require T&C updates Coordinate cross-functional reviews to validate updates against operational processes and system capabilities Support project delivery where T&Cs are impacted, ensuring timely legal updates and stakeholder alignment Cardmember Communication Draft clear, compliant, and customer-focused communications relating to T&C changes Coordinate stakeholder reviews, consolidate feedback, and secure required legal and compliance approvals. Partner with Technology teams to build, test, and deploy cardmember communications via Raven and other relevant platforms in line with agreed timelines Legal Documentation Management Create, update, and maintain legal documentation for acquisition marketing teams Update Executed Agreements within the Raven platform to ensure accuracy, version control, and audit traceability Ensure legal documentation is updated in response to Bank of England base rate changes Support the legal documentation set-up for new product launches and enhancements T&Cs Database Own and maintain the UK T&Cs database across all card products. Upload, archive, and manage version control of updated T&Cs, ensuring governance and audit standards are met Manage user access and maintain database integrity Quality Control & Governance Conduct detailed proofreading and validation checks across all legal documentation Ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment between T&Cs, systems, communications, and operational processes Support with updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures Qualifications Exceptional attention to detail with extensive proofreading and data validation experience Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal or regulatory requirements into clear, customer-friendly language Microsoft Excel and Word skills with the ability to manage documentation, version control, and tracking effectively Proven project management experience within a matrix organisation, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities Strong organisational skills with demonstrated experience managing document governance, version control, and audit traceability Excellent understanding of the UK consumer card business, products, and associated regulatory environment Experience working with internal systems (e.g. Globestar); knowledge of Raven or similar platforms advantageous Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills; collaborative team player with the ability to influence cross-functional partners Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy and control Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the UK is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
