Solutions Architect (Integration Focus)

Overview
One of the UK’s largest and most recognised retail brands is embarking on a major digital transformation programme spanning International Retail, Commercial and Supply Chain operations. We’re looking for a Solutions Architect with strong integration design and architecture experience to join their Nottingham-based Architecture team on an initial 3-month contract. You’ll play a key role in shaping complex system integrations, designing high-level solutions, and ensuring architectural standards and governance are upheld across multiple projects. This is a hands‑on architecture role, working closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced transformation environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and deliver high-quality solution and integration architectures across major business transformation initiatives.
* Create High-Level Designs (HLDs), models, and other architecture artefacts using tools such as ArchiMate or Sparx EA.
* Define and govern architecture blueprints, integration patterns, and solution building blocks across multiple technology domains.
* Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and Test teams to ensure cohesive and scalable solution delivery.
* Lead and support cross‑functional teams (Infrastructure, Security, Data, Integration) to ensure end‑to‑end delivery quality.
* Engage with external vendors and internal stakeholders to validate technical approaches and ensure alignment with enterprise strategy.
* Support project governance, service introduction, and data governance processes to ensure smooth transition into live operations.
Required Experience
* 5+ years’ experience as a Solutions Architect in large‑scale enterprise environments.
* Strong background in system integration architecture, APIs, middleware, and data flows across multiple platforms.
* Experience designing architectures using modelling languages (e.g. ArchiMate) and frameworks such as TOGAF.
* Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and modern microservices and API‑led integration patterns.
* Knowledge of architecture building blocks, governance, and design assurance.
* Hands‑on experience with architecture tools such as ArchiMate, Alfabet, Aris, or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
* Experience leading design across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
Nice to Have
* Experience in Retail or Supply Chain Systems (Forecasting, WMS, OMS, or Inventory).
* Knowledge of Data Architecture and Canonical Data Models.
* Familiarity with technologies such as MuleSoft, Software AG, SAP S/4, Salesforce, Witron, or KNAPP.
