Role Overview
Consultant Psychiatrists will provide Older Adult Mental Health services within the Older Adult directorate of NHS Grampian, based at Royal Cornhill Hospital and linked to General Practices in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
Responsibilities
* Deliver older adult mental health services within a designated catchment team.
* Oversee acute admission beds at Royal Cornhill Hospital and manage care for Aberdeenshire patients in community‑based hospitals.
* Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
* Register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists; all associated costs are covered by NHS Grampian.
* Participate in research activities and maintain close links with the University of Aberdeen’s Departments of Mental Health and Psychology.
* Engage in audit and other elements of clinical governance.
* Develop and agree a detailed job plan with the successful candidate, incorporating service needs and individual experience, skills and interests.
* Engage in annual appraisal towards revalidation.
Qualifications
* UK training evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors only eligible once specialist registration is awarded.
* Doctors holding an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by the GMC must have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Where not on the GMC Specialist Register, candidates may be considered for a Locum Consultant post of up to 12 months with an opportunity to pursue CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration.
