About the role
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to assist the manager in leading the Council’s Building Control team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Forming part of the wider Planning Service, which deals with statutory duties and requirements under the Building Regulation Acts and other related legislation, the postholder would play a key role in monitoring and regulating developments across the county.
On a day to day basis you will:
1. assist in leading an effective, efficient, responsive and high quality Building Control service
2. supervise a team of Registered Building Inspectors and the Local Land Charges staff
3. drive forward legislative changes as a result of the Building (Wales) Regulations ,
4. provide support to the wider Planning Service
We are looking to recruit an individual:
5. with a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or with an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience of Building Control
6. to be a Registered Building Inspector Class 2(a-f) or higher
7. with an ability to communicate impartially, professionally and effectively with a wide range of people at various levels
8. with an ability to work with limited supervision and to work to tight deadlines
9. with a strong commitment to providing a high quality service to the public and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction
The post requires a degree of fluency in the Welsh language. Please note that a successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the required standard within two years of appointment.
