Maine Medical Center Portland is offering temporary full-time summer employment to Nursing Students (CNAs) entering their senior year through a approximately 10-week summer program. From June to mid-August, you'll work in a caring environment under the guidance of experienced registered nurses in our clinical settings. This position generally involves 32 to 36 hours per week.
*Start and end dates may vary for internal candidates.
As a participant in the MMC Summer Student Nurse Extern program, you will engage in collaborative nursing practice and enhance your proficiency within the scope of CNA practice. This is a valuable opportunity to ease the transition from student to graduate nurse. Already a CNA? You can also expand your practice in other clinical settings!
Eligibility:
The Summer Student Nurse Associate program is open to nursing students who meet one of the following:
* Successful completion of the junior year of a BSN program and registration on the State of Maine CNA Registry.
* Successful completion of the first year of an ADN program and registration on the State of Maine CNA Registry.
Summary:
The Student Nurse Extern (SNE) is enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program. The SNE provides appropriate patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse in various settings.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
* Education: Enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program; reference from Nursing Chair/Dean or enrollment in an externship for senior practicum NUR course credit.
* License/Certifications: Certified as a Nursing Assistant and listed on the State of Maine Registry or equivalent; proof of Basic Life Support.
* Experience: Completed the first year of ADN or junior level of BSN coursework in good academic standing.
