Quality Engineer – Plymouth (Devonport Royal Dockyard)
Contract: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week (08:00–17:00)
An experienced Quality Engineer will join a major infrastructure redevelopment programme at a high-security Royal Navy site in Plymouth. This is an long-term opportunity to support delivery of complex works within a live MOD facility.
The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you will support project delivery teams by ensuring robust quality management processes are embedded, maintained, and continuously improved throughout the project lifecycle.
You will act as a key independent point of quality assurance across site activities, supporting progressive handover, maintaining compliance, and ensuring work meets strict regulatory, technical, and client standards.

* SC-level security clearance required.
* Hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country.
* Have lived in the UK for the past 5 years.
* Security checks may take up to 8 weeks to process.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the Quality Management System is implemented effectively across the project.
* Provide independent communication on quality issues and ensure appropriate resolutions.
* Complete internal audits in line with the Audit Schedule and close out findings promptly.
* Prepare, review, and evaluate Inspection & Test Plans (including subcontractor ITPs).
* Support progressive sign-off of ITPs and attend weekly client meetings.
* Manage the material approval process and verify delivered materials meet project requirements.
* Review Lifetime Quality Records and support timely handover documentation.
* Offer guidance, support, and mentoring on quality standards and processes.
* Deliver training on Quality Management System requirements.
* Encourage and investigate feedback and improvement recommendations.
* Monitor and report on NCR trends to Project and Quality Leadership.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the project.
What We’re Looking For
* Academic qualification in Civil Engineering, Quality, or Construction (HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng).
* CSCS White PQP/AQP certification.
* Experience in quality roles within construction or infrastructure environments.
* Strong understanding of quality systems, audits, and progressive assurance.
* Ability to work within high-security, highly regulated environments.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
