Position

Clerical Officer. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer within our Health Records Department based at Biggart Hospital.


Hours And Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday 09:30–12:30. This post is offered on a permanent basis.


What You Will Do

The post holder will provide a dedicated Health Records Clerical Officer service within Biggart Hospital, undertaking both ward-based clerical duties and outpatient administrative responsibilities. This role involves direct, face-to-face interaction with patients, visitors, and members of the public within the ward environment, as well as supporting outpatient functions as required.

Key responsibilities include the maintenance, organisation, and secure filing of confidential patient records; accurate recording of patient information; processing admissions and outpatient appointments using the computerised Patient Administration System; answering telephone enquiries; relaying messages; and coordinating the scheduling of appointments. The post holder will be expected to deliver a high standard of administrative support while ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism at all times.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

* Knowledge acquired through relevant experience, or SVQ Level 2 in Administration / Information Technology or equivalent.
* ECDL or equivalent
* Knowledge of Health Records policies and procedures including Data Subject Access, Confidentiality and Protection of Personal Information.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
