Main duties of the job
To provide professional leadership and to facilitate a culture which engenders high standards and reflective learning
To lead and manage a team of allocated staff (including Paramedics and ECTs)
Undertake line management responsibility for a team of staff ensuring appropriate deployment and supervision of staff
To provide skilled general care and advice to patients within the prison
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing the health needs of patients; to provide and evaluate care given and implement changes as required
To be able to work autonomously, as well as part of the wider team delivering health care to the standard equitable to that found within the wider community
To provide holistic care in a unique environment based on a primary care model that encourages patient engagement to an often socially excluded group

* Provide professional team leadership and support to all members of the Healthcare team.
* Maintain a professional manner and act as a role model
* To facilitate the healthcare teams compliance with CNWL and Prison policies, procedures and guideline ensuring adherence at all times
* Support the formulation of policies/protocols within sphere of work
* Participate in and provide clinical and management supervision and facilitate others to engage in the process
* Act as an excellent role model to junior nursing staff, nursing assistants and students setting, implementing and monitoring the highest professional standards
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse or Registered Paramedic with previous post qualification experience
* Evidence of Continual Professional development.
* Mentoring (e.g. ENB 998 or MSPP)
* Non medical prescribing
Previous Experience
* Proven post registration experience relevant to secure settings.
* Clinical skills in primary care nursing and/or pre hospital settings or ambulance service setting
* Previous experience of leading a team
* Experience of working with diverse communities.
* Experience of working with families in a professional capacity
* Experience of conducting clinical audit activity.
* Experience in working as part of an integrated team, alongside non-health employed colleagues
Skills and Knowledge
* Understanding of clinical governance issues in primary care and secure settings
* Knowledge of PGDs and associated policies
* Knowledge of Infection Preventions and Control
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Excellent Interpersonal skills
* Ability to communicate in an effective way with people from a variety of backgrounds and different ages
* Ability to demonstrate an understanding of team working.
* Ability to demonstrate essential leadership skills.
* Ability to reflect on clinical practice and to understand own limitations when dealing with emotive issues
* Ability to act as a mentor / preceptor to students and newly recruited colleagues.
* Understanding of health promotion and its delivery
* Highly motivated
* Aware of own limitations and seek support from wider team.
* Ability to manage difficult situations and conflict resolution
