Role Overview
The Site Services Manager plays a pivotal role within the Engineering Leadership Team, shaping the future of our Site Services Department in a dynamic, fast-growing food manufacturing business.
You will be responsible for:
Developing best-practice maintenance systems
Coordinating capital installations
Ensuring reliable delivery of essential site services to internal customers
Upholding the highest standards of safety, legislative compliance, and operational excellenceThis role offers the opportunity to contribute to a progressive, high-performing Site Services function that directly supports the business's long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and actively contribute to the Engineering Leadership Team, driving performance and best practices
Deliver the Engineering 5-year strategy, aligned with the company vision
Own Site Services strategy and roadmap for utilities, buildings, and critical services
Lead and develop a small maintenance/utilities team (skills matrix, training, succession planning, performance management)
Demonstrate safe behaviour and comply with all safe systems of work
Manage contractors and service providers: pre-qualification, competency checks, RAMS review, permits-to-work, supervision, and SLA performance
Maintain permit-to-work and LOTO systems across high-risk activities
Plan and deliver CAPEX/OPEX projects for utilities, fabric, and infrastructure: business cases, ROI/NPV, tendering, and contractor selection
Set and track KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, statutory compliance, energy/water intensity, cost-to-serve, contractor performance)
Confidently communicate at all levels and provide occasional out-of-hours support
Lead a safety-focused culture to reduce accidents and near misses
Ensure legal compliance with UK H&S regulations (HSWA, MHSWR, PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, DSEAR/ATEX, COSHH, RIDDOR, CDM, electricity, manual handling, working at height)
Oversee steam generation & distribution, boilers, water treatment, compressed air, legionella control, refrigeration, electrical infrastructure, and lifting equipment compliance
Manage emergency preparedness, energy & carbon management, pollution prevention, and GMP compliance
Lead compliance audits and corrective actions for ISO 45001, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000
Manage work orders, prioritising by risk/impact, and maintain planned maintenance schedules
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and reduce waste.
