This is a full-time post for a Respiratory Registrar, designed to meet the increasing demands on our local service and to provide an exciting opportunity to enhance and strengthen Respiratory services at CHFT.
There is a comprehensive induction course and regular weekly teaching. The service commitment, supervision level, and educational opportunities will be equivalent to those of our existing ST4+ trainees and are comparable to a training post in every way.
An Educational Supervisor will be allocated to support professional development. Weekly teaching sessions will cover clinical and managerial topics. Additionally, there will be a weekly radiology session to foster interest in radiology, which has been well received by trainees.
Research and audit projects are encouraged, and the Trust also runs ALS and APLS courses.
This is a full-time post, with basic hours of 40 hours per week. The successful candidate would participate in an on-call rota for general/acute medicine. Part-time applications are encouraged, with rotas adjusted accordingly and by negotiation.
The post is primarily based on the Respiratory wards at Calderdale Royal Hospital, involving ward rounds, supervision of junior staff, and participation in two general Respiratory clinics per week.
The role includes participation in the current on-call Middle grade rota for General Medicine, on a 1 in 15 schedule. When on-call, you will oversee the management of acute admissions and support the wards as needed. The on-call team comprises registrars (ST4+/IMT), resident doctors, foundation trainees, and physician associates.
We employ over 6,500 staff delivering compassionate care across Calderdale Royal Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, community sites, health centres, and patients’ homes. We also have nearly 150 volunteers.
Our services include urgent and emergency care, medical, surgical, maternity, gynaecology, critical care, children’s services, end-of-life care, outpatient, and diagnostic imaging services.
Community health services, including sexual health, are provided in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres such as Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.
We are committed to modernising and investing in health services to build on our reputation. As a foundation trust, we are public leaders in quality improvement, with decisions driven by an independent board responsive to patients, staff, and the community.
