Overview

Registered Nurse - Surgical role at NHS Scotland


Responsibilities

* Assess care needs and develop programmes of care, and/or implement and evaluate these programmes to ensure delivery of high-quality care to patients.
* Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision.
* Demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses, as required.
* Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.


Additional requirements after 2 years post registration

The post holder will direct, coordinate and supervise, where appropriate, the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in relation to patient care. In the absence of the senior charge nurse/team leader, or deputy, the post holder will provide cover to ensure effective operation of the ward/department.

What we\'ll need you to bring

* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
* Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Excellent time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology


Desirable

* Knowledge of treatment of clinical conditions
* Basic life support skills


Contract details

* Contract type: Fixed Term or Secondment for 6 Months
* Employment type: Full-time or Part-time
* Hours: Various hours; salary pro-rata for part-time posts


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Ward 4 - Surgical Assessment Unit within University Hospital Hairmyres.
