We're recruiting a Temporary Accommodation Assistant to join our dedicated team in Adult Services at Milton Keynes City Council. Our colleagues support people who need temporary housing, helping them access safe places to stay while they work through stressful and often complex situations.
You'll be part of a team that plays an important role in delivering our frontline housing service. You'll help us provide clear information, manage placements and keep things running smoothly so residents get the support they need.
The role is ideal if you have some experience in housing or a similar setting and want to develop your skills in a rewarding and valued service.
A basic Disclosure and Barring Service check is required.

Main Responsibility
Provide effective, efficient and customer‑focused support to the Temporary Accommodation Team.
Assist with the management of temporary accommodation by offering clear advice on housing solutions.
Support colleagues with placing households into temporary accommodation and explain the different types of licences and non‑secure tenancies.
Keep accurate records, monitor mailboxes, handle calls and help manage first‑contact enquiries, including repairs, access and utilities.
Liaise with landlords and letting agents to support the smooth running of the service.
Manage enquiries coming into the team and support colleagues with visits when required.
The Ideal Candidate
Has experience working in housing or a similar service.
Understands homelessness legislation, licences and non‑secure tenancies, or can quickly learn.
Can communicate clearly with a wide range of people, both in writing and over the phone.
Is empathetic, non‑judgmental and able to support people experiencing stressful housing situations.
Works well as part of a team and delivers excellent customer service.
Understands the importance of accuracy and confidentiality when handling personal information.
If you are offered the role, we will carry out a Basic DBS check and BPSS referencing as part of the pre-employment process
