Job Description
We are seeking a Chemistry Specialist Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. This role involves applying scientific and technical expertise to enhance manufacturing processes, support the production of detection products, and facilitate new product transfers into manufacturing. You will be key in maintaining the performance of our chemicals, explosives, and narcotics detection technologies through hands-on investigations, data analysis, and collaboration across teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor and improve manufacturing process performance for detection products.
2. Provide scientific guidance and technical input to the production team.
3. Plan and execute experiments, investigations, and root-cause analyses.
4. Analyze and interpret performance data; generate technical reports.
5. Support New Product Development (NPD) to ensure successful handover to production.
6. Contribute to lifecycle support of detection products.
7. Collaborate with internal teams (Production, Quality, R&D, Engineering) to solve technical challenges.
8. Provide up-to-date technical advice to Manufacturing, Programme Managers, and Product Managers.
9. Support field trials and off-site testing when required.
10. Work autonomously and manage own priorities effectively.
Qualifications
About You
* A degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Analytical Science, etc.).
* Proven experience in an applied scientific, manufacturing or engineering environment, with a preference for Ion spectroscopy.
* Excellent data analysis and experimental design skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Highly self-motivated and proactive, with good time management skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* PhD in a relevant scientific field.
* Knowledge of ion mobility spectrometry and ion chemistry.
* Experience with analytical instrument design.
* Understanding of cross-disciplinary engineering (Mechanical, Software, Electronics).
Skills and Competencies
* Ability to manage multiple projects and investigations simultaneously.
* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
* Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
* Effective communication of complex technical findings.
* Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with hands-on tasks.
* Understanding of relevant technical standards and principles.
