About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? Do you want to contribute to improving outcomes for children and young people across Stockton-on-Tees? Are you skilled at building positive relationships with families, schools and multi‑agency partners?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Caseworker to join our SEND Assessment & Reviews team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

This is a part‑time role of 18.5 hours per week with a salary of £17,217 – £18,640.

We are looking for someone skilled and motivated to play a key part in coordinating Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and ensuring high‑quality annual reviews for children and young people with EHCPs.


Key Responsibilities

* Coordinating timely, high‑quality SEND assessments and reviews.
* Building strong, positive partnerships with families and schools.
* Supporting and developing the EHCP process.
* Managing a varied caseload and meeting statutory deadlines.
* Maintaining accurate, well‑organised case records.
* Championing inclusive, person‑centred support.
* Playing a key role in improving services and outcomes.
* Travelling across the borough to attend meetings and reviews.


Required Skills and Experience

* Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
* Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with families and professionals.
* Clear and confident communication, both verbally and in writing.
* Capability to manage a busy and varied caseload, prioritising effectively.
* Understands the SEND Code of Practice (or willing to learn).
* Experience in SEND, education, health or social care (desirable but not essential).
* Commitment to our council values and continuous improvement.
