To lead the strategic development and delivery of the Medicines Optimization Strategy and staff training. To be the Quality Improvement sponsor for medicines. Provide leadership and hold responsibility for standards of pharmaceutical practice, quality assurance, risk management and other issues of clinical governance related to medicines optimization companywide including policy development and implementation, standards of safe and secure handlings of medicines and advice on complaints. To ensure regular review of pharmacy performance using appropriate indicators and benchmarking, striving for continuous good practice. Provide expert advice on medicines management to the Company senior management, clinical staff, and other health care professionals. To support the Accountable Officer (Controlled Drugs) role to ensure compliance with relevant controlled drugs legislation. To provide pharmaceutical expertise regarding the interpretation of national policy, setting of practice standards, standards within contracts and specifications, and provision of expert advice on the management of controlled drugs incidents. To provide medicines safety and optimization reports when requested by the Executive Board. Work with senior medical, nursing and management colleagues to implement the national, regional and local priorities To ensure effective risk management at team level through incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the risk register.
