Machinist Salary: £34,000 Location: Alloa, UK Sector: Engineering A well-established engineering services provider is seeking a skilled Machinist to join its workshop.

This is a hands-on role, responsible for setting and operating a range of manual and machine tools to produce new and refurbished components, supporting the assembly and refurbishment of overhauled equipment.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality work on time and to budget, following company and client-specific HSEQ standards.

The Role You will operate manual lathes, horizontal and vertical borers, and milling machines to manufacture components to specification.

You will collaborate with engineers and supervisors to ensure equipment is repaired and refurbished efficiently, maintaining accurate workshop records and quality documentation.

This role requires a proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, ensuring the workshop is always inspection-ready.

Key Responsibilities Set and operate manual lathes, horizontal and vertical borers, and milling machines.

Produce components to drawings or samples, maintaining dimensional accuracy and quality.

Support the refurbishment and assembly of overhauled equipment.

Liaise with engineers and supervisors to propose repairs and machining processes.

Complete workshop documentation, quality plans, inspection records, and other relevant paperwork.

Maintain high health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.

Ensure your area is housekeeping and visitor-ready using 6S techniques.

Contribute to continuous improvement projects within the workshop.

Be flexible to work on client sites, standby/callout, and occasional night shifts.

Requirements Time-served craftsperson in a relevant mechanical discipline.

Proven experience operating manual lathes, borers, and milling machines.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, safety rules, and procedures.

Confident communicator with good written and verbal skills.

Able to solve practical problems efficiently and independently.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including client sites, standby, or night shifts.

Experience working in noisy workshop environments and adhering to PPE requirements.
