The role

The NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate provide an ambitious programme of integrated care to a population of approximately 380,000 people, by a team of around 300 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, support workers, nurses and administrators. We pride ourselves on being a vibrant, welcoming and friendly team, made up of hardworking, talented and dedicated individuals who work towards a common goal of putting our patients at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to our staff’s experience and development and ensuring both our team and patients experience the same compassion and empathy.

The Pharmacy team works across acute and community hospital sites, general practices, mental health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our community pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.

This role will work with a variety of colleagues across the Directorate while being part of the Business Support Team, and the post will develop and maintain the high standard of support necessary to run a successful service.

The post would suit someone with strong business support experience who can work effectively with a wide range of staff groups. You should be educated to HNC level, or have equivalent experience, and have an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Strong communication and team‑working skills are essential, along with the flexibility to meet the demands of modern healthcare and a willingness to learn and develop as new technology is introduced.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. As part of the pre‑employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre‑settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here. It is essential that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored before submitting your application form.

We offer flexible working and family‑friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long‑term conditions or who are neuro‑divergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.
