Job Description – School Chef
Location: Milton Keynes
Contract: Temp to Perm (Term-Time Only)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:15 am – 2:30 pm
Weeks: Term-time only (approx. 39 weeks)
Holiday: 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday pro-rated based on a 52-week calculation
Start: ASAP / Immediate Start Available
Pay: Competitive (dependent on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic School Chef to join a friendly, supportive education environment in Milton Keynes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with fresh ingredients, preparing nutritious meals for students, and managing a busy school kitchen.
The role begins on a temp-to-perm basis, with strong potential to become a permanent member of the team.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and cook balanced, nutritious meals in line with school food standards.

Manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
*
Maintain strict food hygiene, allergen management and safety standards.
*
Oversee stock control, ordering, deliveries and portion management.
*
Ensure all meals are produced on time for daily service.
*
Adhere to dietary requirements, including vegetarian options, allergies and cultural needs.
*
Supervise and support kitchen assistants as required.
*
Maintain high levels of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen at all times.

Comply with all safeguarding, health & safety and food hygiene regulations.
Requirements
*
Previous experience as a Chef, ideally within a school, care, or volume catering environment.
*
A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
*
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 desirable).
*
Strong understanding of school food standards and allergen procedures.
*
Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
*
Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
