Join to apply for the EMEA Sales Leader role at Automata

Level: 6

Salary band: £120,000 - £150,000 base + commission

Location: Hybrid, work in our London HQ 3x/wk

At Automata, we're on a mission to transform how scientists work by making automation accessible to every lab in the world. We believe that by giving labs the power to automate, we can unlock discoveries that will shape the future of life sciences—from diagnostics and drug discovery to synthetic biology.

But we’re more than just a company disrupting the industry—we're a team of innovators, problem-solvers, and creators passionate about empowering scientists. Our LINQ platform combines hardware and software to streamline workflows, making lab automation fast, flexible, and affordable. This means our customers can focus on groundbreaking research, while we take care of the rest.

Why Work at Automata?

* Impact: Your work will directly contribute to advancements in science and medicine, supporting labs around the globe as they push boundaries in research and innovation.
* Innovation: You’ll be part of a team solving complex problems (seriously, no one else has figured out how to do this yet), using cutting-edge technology (we have robots).
* Growth: We invest in our people. Whether through hands-on experience, professional development, or collaborative projects, you’ll grow both professionally and personally.
* Community: Join a diverse, passionate team that values collaboration (golf on a Thursday, Soccer once a month, movie nights whenever we fancy it).

We are looking for an EMEA Sales Leader whose mission is to be a strategic growth driver who builds both as an independent contributor while leading a high-performing team to expand our footprint and pipeline across the region.

Accelerating science requires strong, focused leadership to drive commercial success across EMEA—ensuring that our automation solutions reach the right labs, faster.

By building and guiding a high-performing Strategic Account Executive team and driving pipeline growth, the EMEA Sales Leader will be critical to scaling our impact and fulfilling our mission to accelerate science by making automation a reality for every lab.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For:

* Building pipeline, initially acting as an independent contributor directly reaching out to customers to plan and execute Lunch & Learn and new meeting activities in order to get face-to-face with customers
* Rationalizing quota and development goals to new strategic EMEA territory divisions
* Leading and managing the Strategic Account Directors across the EMEA region
* Building a strong team culture that reflects our values and supports growth
* Setting clear goals, providing regular coaching, and supporting team development
* Driving pipeline growth by working closely with Marketing and other teams to generate demand
* Owning and delivering regional sales targets, helping the team close key deals

Rolling out strategy in EMEA in alignment with global sales leadership and tailoring it to local needs

* Partnering with Customer Success, Product, and other functions to ensure strong execution and customer outcomes
* Using data to track progress, identify issues, and improve performance
* Supporting account planning, territory setup, and resource allocation
* Championing our mission to accelerate science by making lab automation accessible

What It Takes

* Proven success leading enterprise or strategic sales teams across EMEA
* 10+ years in B2B sales, with at least 3 years in a sales leadership role
* Experience in lab automation, liquid handling platforms, large scale integrated laboratory solutions and integrated peripheral equipment
* Track record of success in startup or high-growth environments
* Strong ability to build pipeline and collaborate cross-functionally to drive demand
* Skilled in coaching, performance management, and developing high-performing teams
* Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
* Data-driven with confidence in forecasting and performance tracking
* Deep understanding of complex sales cycles and strategic selling
* Passion for accelerating science through innovative technology

Nice to Haves

* Experience selling into or working directly with academic, biotech, or pharma labs
* Familiarity with automation workflows, lab hardware, or integrated software systems
* Knowledge of EMEA market nuances, regulatory landscapes, and buyer behaviors
* Background in scaling sales teams from early stage through growth phases
* Experience influencing product strategy or customer feedback loops
* Fluency in additional European languages
* Formal sales training (e.g., MEDDIC, SPIN, Challenger)
* Experience managing or collaborating with distributed or remote teams

What Gets Us Excited

We’re passionate about the future of technology and automation, and our growing success is built on like-minded individuals who share that passion.

You are excited about building something from the ground up in a high-impact region, with the backing of a world-class product and a mission that truly matters. We’re a tight-knit, ambitious team that thrives on collaboration, autonomy, and solving hard problems for scientists. You’ll have the freedom to shape strategy, influence direction, and directly accelerate the pace of scientific discovery across EMEA.

We are an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Discrimination of any kind based on race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, or veteran status is strictly prohibited.
