FINANCIAL CONTROLLER – GLASGOW – URGENT ROLE
Location: Glasgow
Salary: 45,000 to £55,000 depending on experience, plus benefits
Full-Time | Permanent / Or Part-Time
Optional Hybrid based role
This is an exciting opportunity to become the financial lead for one of the most ambitious surfacing companies in Scotland.
Established by former board-level directors from Tarmac and Breedon, this privately owned business is on track to exceed £5 million in turnover within its first year. With rapid growth already underway, including the recent acquisition of a four-acre site and future plans to open its own quarry, they are now seeking a skilled Financial Controller to oversee and develop the entire finance function.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position that offers both variety and influence. As Financial Controller, you will manage all day-to-day finance operations while also supporting the directors in shaping the company’s commercial direction.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading the company’s finance function, covering cashflow, forecasting, and budgeting
*
Managing all accounting processes, such as invoicing, payroll, payments, and VAT compliance
*
Overseeing job costing and project-specific financial reporting
*
Supporting the implementation and integration of digital tools, such as Reflow and Xero
*
Working closely with the directors on commercial planning and performance monitoring
*
Introducing scalable financial systems and processes to support continued growth
*
Liaising with external accountants and preparing for year-end accounts
About You
The ideal candidate will be experienced, proactive, and commercially aware, with a background in construction or a similar project-based environment.

Proven experience as a Financial Controller, or a Finance Manager or accountant as a dual role

Strong understanding of project accounting and cost tracking
*
A good working knowledge of Xero and related finance platforms
*
Confidence to build new systems, rather than simply manage existing ones
*
The ability to work independently and collaborate closely with a senior leadership team
*
A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved across the business
