Course Summary

This course is for Technical Support Technicians, who work as part of a team to provide technical support and expertise for all areas of the Engineering and Manufacturing function including communications software, test, analysis tools, measurement, off line programming, process control, performance and continuous improvement solutions, capacity planning, production scheduling/planning, product technical applications and capability, technical sales and marketing support, product development and innovation, engineering drawing, purchasing and/or supply of goods or services for engineering activities, quality control, inspection and e-commerce technologies as required.
It starts with building foundation skills in engineering disciplines before focussing on skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be a successful Technical Support Technician.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Apprentices will attend college on day-release for 1 or 2 days a week during term time for 3 years. During this time, they will be visited in the workplace every 8 to 10 weeks where they will be guided through the work-based side of their programme. The final 6 months are focussed on preparing the apprentice for End-Point Assessment which will determine the final outcome of the Apprenticeship. This includes theory and practical tests.

Entry requirements

Suitable employment. GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics and 1 other subject or the equivalent.
Remember, an apprenticeship is a job so the hiring employer may have additional criteria that will have to be met alongside CRC’s entry criteria.

Your next steps...

The successful completion of this course could lead to a supervisory role in engineering with a Level 4 Apprenticeship, an HNC/HND or a Degree in Engineering.
