Position Overview
The Accounts Assistant will provide critical support to the Finance team, contributing to accurate and timely financial operations. Reporting to senior finance personnel, this hybrid position offers valuable exposure to diverse accounting functions and opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Maintenance : Accurately post transactions into sales, purchase, and general ledgers; perform regular reconciliations.
Invoice Processing & Credit Control : Raise sales invoices, process supplier invoices, manage expense claims, and monitor outstanding debts.
Bank and Cash Reconciliations : Reconcile bank statements (including multi-currency), credit cards, petty cash, and the cashbook.
VAT & Month-End Support : Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and support monthly and year-end close procedures.
Fixed Asset Register & Reporting : Assist in maintaining fixed asset records and preparing basic financial reports.
Administrative and Audit Preparation : File financial documents, uphold accounting procedures, and assist with audit readiness.
Client & Supplier Relations : Professionally handle routine financial inquiries and liaise with internal or external stakeholders.
Process Improvement : Identify and propose enhancements to accounting systems and workflows.
Candidate Profile
Experience : Minimum of 12 months' experience in bookkeeping or an accounts assistant role within practice or industry.
Qualifications : AAT study/qualification or a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Technical Skills : Strong Excel proficiency and familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks.
Competencies : Exceptional attention to detail, analytical mindset, strong organisational skills, and effective communication.
Remuneration & Benefits
Salary : £26,000-£30,000, dependent on experience
