We are excitedto announce an exceptional opportunity for a Lead Nurse position withinBarnsley Hospitals newly established, state-of-the-art 13-bed Intensive CareUnit (ICU). We are seeking a dedicated Band 7 nurse to join and collaborateclosely with the current Lead Nurse, supporting both clinical and managerialresponsibilities while leading a diverse team of over 80 healthcareprofessionals.

The idealcandidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centredcare within a multidisciplinary framework that emphasises holistic andcompassionate care delivery. Thesuccessful applicant will have proven experience in a Band 6 role within anacute adult critical care setting, with expertise in delivering Level 3 care.You will demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills, alongside aproactive and flexible approach, contributing to the ongoing evolution andexcellence of our ICU service.


Main duties of the job

This is a full time 6 month secondment and we invite applications from dynamic, highly motivated candidates who hold a recognised Adult Critical Care qualification and possess substantial, recent clinical experience within a critical care environment.

Bea highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the clinical environment ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence based nursing care for the patients and their families.

Ensure that each patient is assessed and that their care is planned, implementedand evaluated in negotiationwith the patient and as appropriate their family, and that thisis accurately documented

Participate/manage any service developments within their own specialised areaof responsibility

Ensure that the quality of care delivered is exemplary throughout the 24 hour period,with appropriatedelegation of duties being a major factor in thiswork.

Ensure that careisresponsive to theneeds ofpatients andreflectsTrust procedures

Act as an exemplaryrole model at all times and undertake 60% - 80% rostered clinical work

Person Specification

Qualifications

* 1st level registered nurse. Experience at Band 6
* Post graduate qualification in Critical Care
* Plus additional qualifications including Assessing and mentoring qualification and additional relevant degree (or evidence of working towards a degree)
* Evidence of on-going dynamic continuing professional development within the specialty.
* Compliance with all Mandatory training Demonstrable experience of taking charge of a ward environment
* NVQ D32/33 Assessor Course
* Advanced Life Support training


Experience

* Experience of leading and managing a team of nurses
* Previous experience of change management and problem solving.
* Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints.


Knowledge and Awareness

* Thorough specialty knowledge relevant to the department.
* Understanding of audit and research methodologies
* Understanding of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk and quality issues.
* Handling clinical incidents and complaints
* Awareness of equality and diversity
* Knowledge of web site access
