An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Schools Finance Team as a Lead Finance Business Partner - Deficit Schools (LFBP). Reporting to the Senior Finance Business partner (SFBP), and working closely with the Assistant Head of Education (Resources), the LFBP will support schools with financial monitoring, providing advice and scrutiny to ensure robust and consistent financial management practices are in place to identify risks and opportunities over the short to medium term. One of the main objectives will be supporting schools already in deficit positions, and to enable early identification and mitigation actions to prevent other schools falling into a similar position. Examples of other duties include supporting and supervising the works of a team of finance business partners to ensure that all regular finance processes/tasks are completed consistently and in line with the operating model in place across the Council, planning and delivering financial training and deputising for the SFBP as required.
The ideal candidate will be highly numerate and literate and be qualified, or studying toward, a CCAB qualification. Experience of working with Senior Officers is essential and experience of working with other senior staff including Head Teachers and School Business Managers is desirable. The post holder will require the ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
The post holder will work from home and the Civic Centre and occasional travel will be required to sites in and around the Newport area.
